How do the developers release projects into a live production environment without sorting out major issues. They do not know how to do proper UAT. Do they understand what is UAT. I see you can now add a card to Apple Pay wallet straight from the app, but I have been hoping that virtual cards can be made for the savings accounts I have under my main account, that I can also add to my wallet. This would be very convenient, because I won’t have to transfer money from the accounts I created to the main account for me to pay via my Apple Pay wallet. If you add a new beneficiary without making a payment, that beneficiary is not listed under recently paid or paid within the last 12 months. It is still listed somewhere because we are unable to add it again.

I quickly got the impression that they do not know what they are doing and then a consultant from another bank told me the same thing. Extreme lack of communication - have been sending emails to the Tygervalley branch, but simply no response. If you recently started your own business and need a trustworthy, and reliable bank with good customer service, this is NOT the bank for you or your business.

There are constantly random times where you cannot log into your account, not just me but a lot of my friends/colleagues that use the Capitec app as well.
And maybe I am able to get into my app but for some reason today I couldn’t transact money between accounts. I had a very important payment I had to make and for 45 minutes I struggled to get the payment sorted as it kept giving transaction errors and then ended not letting me log back in for awhile. I somehow got online banking to work and did it through there because the app is very problematic.

Worst App ever. I don’t know how many times I have to remove and reinstall the App just so I can make a transaction. Every single month around the 25th towards month end it becomes impossible to access the banking App. This is extremely frustrating as the issue has been happening for months now with no fix. This is obviously a known error as I called the Support stuff when on this random day the App would not accept my banking pin to allow me to transact. She didn’t offer any solution except to let me know to try again later or the next day. Crazy in my opinion!!

I don’t understand why I have to go to a branch to reproduce proof of payment for online payments, I paid something using online payments, and EFT transfer and I couldn’t emails myself proof of payment, I have to go to a branch even there they couldn’t reproduce it, they had to call “head office” and they printed it out, I didn’t need a printout I just needed a soft copy, why can’t they email it to me or better yet just allow me to email it to myself in the app. Too much admin for something that can be easily done on the app saves everyone time.

Good Bank especially their security systems and great service in the in branch…. The app works when it wants to, internet banking from your personal computer needs to constantly scan QR codes from the app which gives you the usual response: ‘Sorry, something went wrong, try again later or use the app’. Well, the app isn’t working; it seldom does. Going to the bank doesn’t help as you have to work your way through throngs of people queuing for miles at the (usually) two ATM’s. Staff aren’t very helpful either. If Woolworths were the Ferrari of banks then Crapitec is clearly PEP/Shoprite. I’m moving banks.

This app had become more and more frustrating to use which is the very opposite of what it was designed to do (make electronic banking more convenient). First I struggled to log in 5 out of 10 times, an issue that seemed to be resolved for its now 9 out of 10. Now I can't see my transactions when I click on my account, it gives me an "Unable to process your selection error". This is frustrating whenever I want to verify whether I've received a certain payment because my messages comes through in the app and it does not always so all of my transactions. Very frustrating, hope it will be resolved soon.

I initially came here to vent to Capitec regarding the quality of the app since upgrading it recently. I’ve had a challenge of the app hanging, being slow and not being able to log in while on Wifi for a week or so. When I opened the review tab, I came across my review that I did last year and found the solution in the review itself. If you’re using an IOS operating system and your Capitec app is giving you problems. Simply go to your settings then scroll down to SAFARI. Click on SAFARI then clear history and data (clear cache). Why is it so hard to open up an account, I have 2 cards one for my baby and one for me but one cellphone, the assistant who opened up the account for my baby said that I could just delete and reinstall the app to access the other account. And every time it says that home affairs hasn’t provided it with that information, so it’s very frustrating, especially when I want to use it in case of emergencies. At least if I could check the information on the other account it’d be very convenient.
Overall it’s a great app I jus don’t like the fact that we have to take selfies to access and then it just never works🥺💔💔

Hey guys. Is it just me, or does the iOS app not allow you to access proof of payments? Surely, this is not an optional thing? Would be far nicer if that option, and a share functionality could be available so that pdf proof of payments sent via email or whatsapp would be far easier, and to stop me sending screenshots of the payment confirmation page. Can you please build the below issues into your app. this is all basic stuff and should have been on your app since day 1. its not difficult guys. please.
i look at some banks apps and cannot believe the annoying/difficult/un-user friendly apps they build. clearly your app builders dont understand.
1.)it is annoying Not to see a running balance on my statement on scrolling to older transactions or just on current day. its noy there. i can only see current balance of today less any unprocessed transactions.
2.) unprocessed transactions are not displayed anywhere so you only see it being taken out of your available balance but the transaction itself is shown NoWhere! (the message of the transaction though is shown under ‘messages’)
3.) if i am in the app, and someone pays me, i get a message in the app but the transaction does not show ans my available balance is not updated. I have to log out and then back in to get avalable balance updated

I tried logging into my account yesterday in the App would not allow me so I called the client Care centre and this guy told me that I need to restart my app. I uninstalled the app and tried to sign in again, it still wouldn’t allow me to sign in.I call the client care centre about six times and I still have the same problem, so yesterday I decided to just leave it and I’ll try today but when I tried it again it’s still wouldn’t allow me to sign in honestly this a new update is horrible.

Update: I solved the problem myself. There seems to be a problem with 5G phones being able to get connected to the app. If you turn off data roaming, the setup of the app goes through. The developers of the app really need to sort this problem out so Capitec customers can avoid the frustrations I had to go through. 3 branch visits to Capitec and, a branch visit and phone call to mtn and no one could help me. VERY FRUSTRATING 🤦🏻‍♀️

I get to the part where I send the sms to Capitec and then nothing happens. I’ve been into your willowbridge branch today and they told me to talk to mtn. Mtn has told me that the problem is not on their side as I can send sms’s to other people. I have also made sure my phone software has been updated to iOS 15.3 as advised by the consultant at Capitec but it still isn’t working. Can you help ?

What a terrible attempt at a banking app of all apps! I have tried on a number of different days to set up a profile. One day, it won’t get past taking a selfie. Another day there is hope and I get past completing my address, then it bombs out. Try again and it gets stuck on different days at those same two stages. Why release it when it has clearly not been tested? It’s so frustrating to have you offer this service and it ends up being a waste of your clients’ time.

I don’t know where exactly it went wrong, but Capitec has gone from having the best app and tech in SA banking, to average at best.
The app used to be extremely fast and reliable, now it is neither. It literally crashes about half the time I try to do something. Not to mention 2FA payments hardly work at all late at night. I frequently need to retry late online payments 5-6 times before the app will give me a push notification to verify a transaction; and I’ve also noticed some major security issues that I won’t post here.
I’ve tried reinstalling several times, and I have the latest iOS and app version. The app is just broken, I think it started to go south when all of the widgets and other rubbish started to get jammed into it.
People rely on this stuff, there is no excuse for this level of shoddiness when the stakes are this high and you are as well funded as you are. I’m already moving to a different payment provider but I’m leaving this as a warning to others. Fix your ****.

Absolutely FURIOUS! I’m on iPhone 13. Have not been able to access my account at all since late December 2021. Apparently the app is not compatible with iPhone!!! WTAF 🤬 No one is able to tell me when this will be resolved. I cannot use my card to buy anything. I can’t do any banking … unless I pay R110 for an internet banking token but why should I have to pay for a stuff up on Capitec’s side. Meanwhile I am stranded without money. Have decided that tmrw (Monday) I’m closing my Capitec account and moving it to FNB. This is completely and utterly inexcusable

I’ve tried multiple times to create my profile on the app but keep getting stuck on the verification SMS stage. I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app multiple times. I just can’t get past that point, which means I can’t access any functions. This is a s terrible because it forces people to go into the bank and making the branches unnecessary full , only to be told they can’t assist because it’s a development issue. It a really terrible experience as a new account owner.

i love the app it’s so convenient and quick but recently i’d have to delete the app and restore my details repeatedly cause i’m unable to log in and it happens everytime , it would take awhile to log in then says i have try again and doesn’t seem to stop. i’ve had the app for more than 2 years now , it’s always updated to it’s latest version and this has never happened before. my phone is not the issue i restart it and nothing changes , i still can’t log in. service is good and i’m on fiber wifi which has good speed so nothing on my side seems to be an issue. can this error please be fixed. this issue has been so inconvenient recently for when i have to pay bills and i can’t due to not being able to log in. it’s so frustrating.

Even 1 star might be pushing it. You guys are aware of the iOS problem, but I find it mind boggling that in today's time and age it takes so long to the fix seeing that as per App store you ate the developer. I think the worst part is all the time and airtime I wasted to try and figure out what is going on, whilst you guys send back and forth generic emails not caring about the problems you created at all. You encourage everyone to do everything on the App, but once there is a problem, you act like people should just understand. Super disgusted with the service.

I tried to change my pin and I said I forgot my pin and it asked for my facial recognition and it kicked me out, just crash. It has never worked since then. I went to the branch they were useless they didn’t help me with anything they just said there is nothing they can do imagine. And I need to pay for things it’s like my life is stuck. Tap & Pay risk

The tap & pay functionality is convenient but also a great risk as anyone can make a payment up to R500 should your card gets lost. It is also not possible to decrease the daily R500 payment limit to a smaller amount, it’s only possible to deactivate the service. After deactivating the service, it can only be reactivated by inserting the card with the next payment.
My suggestion is to add a functionality to amend the maximum tap payment amount and add a temporary limit. If one can set your tap payment permanent limit to R1 and be able to increase it in the app just before making a tap payment, it will remove the risk of unauthorized payment. The temporary limit should then reset automatically to the R1 permanent limit after 12 hours.

This app is very bad from my side. I went to open an account at a capitec brunch and when they punched in my ID number it appears that my deceased mother had already opened a account for me. I was told to bring her death certificate. The following day I went back with the death certificate and I was told that they will send me a email so that I confirm with them on a date so that I can come and replace my deceased mothers fingerprints with mine. I waited for the email for 3 weeks but still nothing. I recently went to the very same brunch and when I got there I was told that I need to open a account using the cellphone banking app. I downloaded the app whilst in the brunch but when I tried logging in it kept on logging itself out. I installed and uninstalled the app more than 4 times but the same thing kept on happening. I tried it again after a couple of hours but the very same thing. The following day tried it again but the same thing is happening. And restarted my cellphone tried logging in but it’s still the same.

Today i went to capitec to get a card, 1 week ago i tried to apply online for a account, but as soon as i went into the application it froze and kicked me out, its been like that since that day.
So today i opened an account seeing that i couldn't do it online (via the banking app) the sales lady told me to uninstall the app, restart my phone etc. (By the way did all this when i noticed the problem) She then referred me to my service provider that it might be because of that, i went to them, they told me its not a network failure its the app itself. Went back to the sales lady and she hopped on a call with capitec's IT support, they told her there is nothing they can do about it.....
So now im stuck with an iphone 12 pro max (newest ios updated as well, so is the capitec app too) that doesnt want to open capitec app, but i have an account with them, cant do any transactions at all! All because they "cant help me"

User friendly of course, but there is a reason I’m not giving it anymore than 3 stars ⭐️ ..
It does not have investment options which really takes us a step back considering we’re deep in the fourth industrial revolution.
We should really be allowed the chance to make our money work for us digitally without having to go to the branches.
Ohh one other thing..we are allowed to use the app without data and buy airtime 😭😭😭it’s not good for our budget 😭😭😂just kidding of course 😹

I understand that the app had to be replaced in order to add security features. The old ‘budget’ feature was such a great way to track my regular expenses at a glance, and I wish you’d bring it back.
There are also still stability issues; it is down frequently and sometimes for several hours at a time. For a banking app that’s not really an acceptable level of downtime.

From now onwards, how about you try to develop a banking App that can actually assist end users?! How about developing an App that does not require me to spend more on data having to delete and download the App because of its inability to function when I need it?!
This app is very useless and a definite downgrade from the previous version which was forcefully discontinued but functioning very well. I am using an Iphone and have to restart the phone almost every time i need to use this useless app. When needing to make a quick transaction it takes me more than an hour, which would never happen using the old forcefully discontinued however WELL FUNCTIONING banking app. I dont even see the need for any upgrades/additions if the app itself constantly shows “Currently Unavailable “ when restarting the app. Capitec has chosen inefficiency over proficiency.

I was quite apprehensive to download the updated app after reading all the bad reviews, and thought it was highly unprofessional of Capitec to force us to upgrade. But since I've upgraded to the new app, I'm pleasantly surprised. Maybe it's just my phone, but there is no lag, it works well and I haven't had a bug yet - aside from the facial recognition that doesn't work. So a happy customer for once. 😊

Can’t view transaction history of a single beneficiary

With the old app, one could tap on a beneficiary and view the whole transaction history you paid to that one beneficiary on a single screen and all the dates were clearly displayed. Now I can’t seem to do it, unless I’m doing something wrong? But should then be more user friendly and easy to figure out. It’s nice to be able to do that, because if you pay money to a single beneficiary regularly, you tend to lose track and this function used to help with keeping track.

The new app is well-designed and gives users many new features that are standard at other banks. My only problem is that I frequently can’t log in or access my banking profile. I don’t quite understand why this is the case, as it appeara to be extremely random. It would not be a problem, except that it happens at least 80% of the time when I try to log in. As a user on an iPhone 12 mini with a 50mbps fibre line, I struggle to believe this is an issue on my side (especially considering its frequency; there seems to be no relation between which network I use and the apps inability to [mostly] not connect). This inconsistancy is very inconvenient when you need to make time-sensitive payments. I have heard of many other people who can’t seem to log in or access their accounts. In fact, I spoke to a consultant at a Capitec branch today and apparently this is a well-known issue amoung Capitec staff. I was told that many staff members are still using the old app for this very reason. I hope this gets resolves as soon as possible.

Love this banking app. Much more accessible then any other app I have used.
Noticed that the list to choose either airtime, data or sms bundles is quiet when you swipe to it with voice over. Could this perhaps be fixed that it says something like choose option to let you know you are on a list box?
The one where you have to choose your amount or data bundle works perfectly fine.

The App is great but I have just one major issue. I have more than one phone and with my other bank I have installed their app on both my phones. With Capitec it is impossible to use the app on a second device because it refuses to register it due to the fact that it has been registered already. Why is it impossible to re-install the app on another device? Other banks have no hassle with this

I didn’t really ever have any issues with the old app, but with the new one, my kids and myself have had issues with our limits, even though correct on app, doesn’t pull through, and each time we have to pay fees and go into the bank. The app is slow, and freezes. We regularly get errors that apparently you are aware of, or we are told to try again later. Details of beneficiaries did not pull through with the same refs as what is on the acc, as oer previous app. Seriously, this app has been out more rhan long enough, there shouldn’t be teething issues anymore.

I’ve used the new capitec app for not more that 2 transactions since I downloaded it and that’s largely due to the fact that it’s always down or offline. It is so disappointing and unsatisfying compared to the previous app. The point of the new app was to improve and have better efficiency and I’m afraid the developers have failed to meet those requirements. Such a letdown. I can’t even tell you how many times I’d go into the app and when I try to login it just keeps loading and then gives me an error message. Totally unprofessional.

Could we please have once off payment option, without the app saving the beneficiaries because each time u pay a person they are saved on the app and one ends up with a thousand beneficiaries which is just clutter and time consuming having to go and delete each account individually. Also this app at most times won’t open and will give you the sorry wrong can’t log you In at this moment it does this form hours and even at times that it’s not busy days of the month. Can we also be able to down load the app on other devises without having to go to the bank I need to be able to have the app on both my cell phones and tablet.

I’m really loving the app so much, however I don’t understand why we can’t settle loans in full on the new app whereas we could do on the old app. It really takes away the convenience for me to always call client care for a quote/ visit the branch to settle a loan. Secondly could we have an option to make once off payment without having to the save the beneficiary’s details. I’ve been using the app since 2012 and you could just imagine how many beneficiaries I have by now, it’s just clutter.

I like this new app. It’s pretty and modern. However, I’m really missing the budget feature, it really helped me keep track of what bills I have to pay, and when it’s paid, it crosses out. Track money is kind of just looking at a statement with categories. I want to be able to have the app automatically calculate spending like it did on the old app.
Now another thing I’m having trouble with is the fixed savings set up. I selected the multiple deposit option then the number of months and then next. As soon as I select next I’m taken back to the number off terms (which I’ve already entered) but I cannot move on. Please have a look guys!

The app crashes a lot???? Why?!! It gives frequent failure to execute messages when you need to utilize it most. It logs you off and then wants you to login again when you’ve selected biometric authentication. I can’t deal! It’s not client friendly. I don’t know. It feels like a weird start up. I mean it’s pretty, but if it’s not functional half the time then I mean? What’s the point? Bring back old app, old, but functional. This app has also not been able to send money for the past 2 days and there’s no other way to send money to beneficiaries. I’m so upset! Can we resolve

The app has got what we need but it is quite buggy from the word go. Click on a couple of options and it “crashes” sending you back to your app home page.
Also allow me to use biometric authentication everywhere, even when using 3D secure. Quite the mission having to always type that pin.
Maybe as a suggestion for the future, allow users to add the app to multiple devices. Some people don’t only use one phone or tablet. You can have a primary device and supplementary devices. Security shouldn’t be an issue if you have 2-factor authentication enabled on the primary device.

This is a much needed improvement over the last app .
I find this app easier to navigate and a truly smoother interface .
Much better then the older app .
It is also nice to see that Capitec updated their card look !
It looks truly so much better .
I can now say Capitec is in the same league as discovery bank and or FNB .
The other banks apps are not as superior as Capitecs .
I do still believe their is room to improve such as how quick the app operates .
I do also think that if Capitec was the first to integrate mobile payments such as “” Apple Pay “” it would be a game changer .
Also I would look to possibly improving the budgeting part of the app .

Downloaded the app all the features I’m loving i think and hope this can be taken into account can the main screen showing all your accounts and their balances be customizable too by choosing which accounts you want to be able to be visible to the main screen or a way to show them but hide the balances,because every-time I’m in a queue I feel uncomfortable that someone behind me can see all my balances which can be a safety concern also.

The app is a massive improvement over the previous version. I badly wanted biometric security to be available, and it‘s finally present. The track feature is a great addition and will surely help with saving. I do however really hope that the system learns for future reference when you categorize uncategorized transactions, and when you change transactions from one category to another, otherwise it will prove to be too cumbersome and perhaps useless. Things I do really want: Why can I not swipe from the left to go back to the previous screen? This works on every app in iOS except this one, very unintuitive to reach to top left corner the whole time. Very irritating. If loading times could be sped up that would be great as well, as I don’t really understand why every page must load first. Also, is there a possibility to bring the app to iPad? I would love to have the app on my iPad as well and for it to sync with my phone, but I understand if that’s impossible for security reasons. Lastly, when categorizing it is cumbersome to tap on the small dot the whole time, please allow users to tap on the word/name/bar. Thanks for the great work!
