Zap Andersson - Random Renderer Guy, Autodesk

Zap’s back! The shader wizard returns to discuss the relationship between Material X, OSL, and USD — and reveals his newfound love of streaming music on Twitch.
Tijd: 1:05:22
This week, Zap Andersson returns to the CG Garage podcast — and he’s brought a whole new theme tune with him. Nestled among Klein bottles, Nixie tubes, and Kung Fury posters, Zap reveals his latest passion: streaming live music sessions on Twitch, and tells Chris how it’s given him a new approach to the creative process.
Zap also delves into new open-source standards in computer graphics, such as OSL, USD, and Material X, and details the methodology behind his advanced wood shader. It’s great to catch up with Zap and hear his tales of surviving COVID-19, as well as some of the workarounds he and Chris made in the world of pre-raytraced VFX.

5 out of 5 rating

Thank you Chris for the authenticity, consistency and enthusiasm with which you create the podcast. The CG garage shows talk from the Chaos Group artist network during a weekly podcast with some of the biggest namens in the graphics industry. I have a portrait drawing service and I am developing in eco build design, and V-Ray renders the most enjoyable result. 5 out of 5 rating.

Awesome show

As a motion designer and videographer this podcast is inspiring on a whole lot of different levels. I learn a lot of new things and ways of thinking. I want to thank Chris a lot for the energy he puts in this. I’ve never used VRAY in my life (C4D user), otherwise I’d definatly use it.
