“So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled with your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23–24, CSB)

In that day, the most important moment in one’s spiritual life was bringing a gift or sacrifice to the altar. It was the most important part of one’s relationship with God, which means Jesus is saying that whatever is most important in your spiritual life…

• Prayer. • Service. • Worship. • Bible Study.

…is less important than doing all you can to restore any broken relationships in your life. This means if you have a spiritual “to do” list, the most important thing on that list just became the second most important thing. Is there a relationship in your life that needs some work or forgiveness?
