Without a general assembly there wouldn't be an FSC. It is the most important thing in the DNA of the organization. It's where our members come together. They meet each other. They understand each other. They discuss with each other. They decide what we do.

And without this decision-making on who we are, what we do, we wouldn't be FSC. What then happens when a pandemic forces you to replace in-person dialogue with even more screen time? When that very same in-person dialogue is the core of your DNA? How do you make a virtual event that's truly engaging? Where members feel heard, included, and part of an organization, even though they have to do it across time zones, language barriers, digital infrastructure gaps, and just plain and simple internet connectivity? That's what this episode of forest for the Future is about.

To enlighten me about what we are planning to do, I have Kim Carstensen, Director General of FSC, Guillermina Garza – or Guille – Head of the directors office and membership in FSC. And if you are close to FSC, you will also know that she is the mother of FSC as the first ever employee of FSC and still going strong. And she is the single person behind the planning of all FSC general assemblys ever held. And then we of course have Michael Marus, our CIO and CTO, who will be the person responsible for developing all of the tech solutions we will now need to have in place.
