On this episode I chat about finding your north star when you're making creative stuff. Why write? Why make books? Where do you find validation & meaning in an uncertain & unpredictable world? & are seatbelt laws a good thing or an unconscionable assault on personal liberty?
This is a writing ramble episode, which means I talk discursively about where I'm at this week & try to transmute that into some actionable lessons. Hope it helps.
If you want to support me & read some stuff I've done please check out the Death Of 1000 Cuts Bookshop. There's a selection of books for writers, & some books by me: https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/deathof1000cuts
Please check out my latest book, COWARD: Why We Get Anxious & What We Can Do About It, which is available in hardback, ebook & audiobook (narrated by me): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coward-Why-Anxious-What-About/dp/1838853103/

Good writer - frustrating talker

The first 10 minutes of the podcast were to say the least ‘excruciating’! Adam waffles on - swallowing half words, half sentences and filling a block that has not been thought out, which results in an intro with no structure or depth. His interview with a fellow New Zealand writer, with ridiculous questions and over the top childish reactions caused me to break off the podcast and go listen to ‘Fortunately’ - broadcasters who don’t treat their listeners as little kids! Need I say more?
Preferably not!!

Relentlessly optimistic, very hopeful and constructive

This guy is great. If you’re looking for a writing coach, this is a great place to start. Bar to entry is extremely low, if you can read this, you’re good enough too start, he’s that welcoming.
