The Māṇḍūkya is a principal upaniṣad and the only one said to be sufficient in itself for realisation. The date of origin is contested but thought by many to be early in the christian era. The additional section woven into is by Gauḍapāda who lived circa 6th century c.e. The two are a potent combination for those seeking higher knowledge.
