Gérard Anaclet Vincent Encausse (1865-1916), known as Papus, was a French physician and occultist, co-founder of the Martinist Order with Augustin Chaboseau. His essay The Philosopher's Stone - Irrefutable Proof of its Existence, published in Paris in 1889, is still considered an essential classic for all alchemy enthusiasts.
