Healing body,mind and heart together
Cherise found a small town, somewhere secluded in the mountains, where a shifter community lives. She decided to tell their stories and the result is....fascinating.
The men are dominant, naturally, but they share their woman as well.
Cherise knows just how to do their stories justice and once you get to know them,i'm sure you'll agree.
In Eventide of the Bear,we have not only a bard that’s been alone for 3 years after her first Gathering ended in disaster.
We also have two littermates that haven’t seen eachother for 5 years because one was sure he’d never be able to have children, and the other was blinded by lust at that time.
But as soon as Ryder’s mind cleared,he knew that Genevieve only loved one person….herself.
Finding out he’d fathered a child with her, finding out she abused the little kitten, meant he now headed towards Ben to see if he could rebuild their bond.
Only,it turned out Ben wasn’t living alone….he had company….another bear was living with him.
A female that pretended she needed care….and his littermate was falling for it!
Oh,she acted all sweet and shy,but he knew females couldn’t be trusted…..right?
He sure wouldn’t fall for it,and he’d do his best to keep his little girl safe from her manipulations.
After Emma’s first Gathering ended in the death of her Cosantir’s son,she was banished.
Forced to live alone, she ended up living in the mountains, surviving on whatever she could find.
But when she witnessed a family being slaughtered by a hellhound, she couldn’t allow it to kill the children as well, and she payed for it….
With her leg badly injured, she knew her end was coming, and she was ok with it.
Being alone for 3 years was long enough, and this injury might not have killed her straight away, but it wasn’t helping her survive….
Her past was painful and lonely enough, her own mother never loved her,and she’d been bullied for being too big, too….much a bear before she’d been forced to leave.
She was ready to throw in the towel, and give up.
So,when the Cosantir of the territory she was in,caught her,she asked him to return her to the Mother.
Only to be stunned to hear he didn’t agree, and instead told the bear with him to care for her.
Ben was horrified to hear how the sweet bear they caught had been injured.
Hearing she’d been living in the mountains, alone, was breaking his heart.
Why would she have chosen to do that,or better yet, what forced her?
And why was she afraid to let him close?
His littermate returning with a kid didn’t make life easier….even if they managed to clear the air between them.
Because Ryder was weary of Emma even though she obviously cared about Minette.
Until Ryder started to see Emma for the sweet, shy bard she was.
One with a big heart for little Minette,Ben and Ryder….
What a shame he was too big to even consider a future,to even think about fathering children of his own….
But the past has a way of catching up with you,and in this case it was not just Emma’s,but Ryder’s as well…
Would they still be standing when the dust finally settled?
Could these damaged souls finally get what they all needed, and deserved?
A family to call their own,in a town filled with friends?
With their combined traumas, this was a rough road towards the happiness that i was so very glad to find at the end.
I cried with them,i cheered them on,enjoyed the beautiful moments, and was ready to fight for them when they needed it.
In short, this was a story that i enjoyed from start to finish, just as i did all the times i read it before.
